Why me?

Because I’ve been serving executives and marketing teams in corporate wellness, group benefits, insurance, EAP and digital health organizations for more than a decade.

Andrea Bassett believes a blazer over a novelty t-shirt is always in style.

I’m the executive ghostwriter who helps executives get their messages to their audiences, authentically and aligned to the needs of the business.

Here’s why it makes sense to work with me:

I believe in service

I spent 13 years at Morneau Shepell, starting on the front-line helping clients. I soon moved into behind-the-scenes work and I’ve been there ever since. I believe my purpose is making things easier for whoever I work with. I don’t get tripped up on, “But that’s not my job.” Instead I focus on how I can help move the project forward.

I speak business

There’s a different language in the upper echelons of the corporate world. I was oblivious to it until I became a note-taker in a weekly executive strategy meeting. But over 5 years, I racked up 910+ hours in that executive boardroom—what I call “going to business school for free.” I didn’t know what the heck they were talking about at first, but I became so fluent in business-speak, I can translate it into plain language. Executives can’t influence clients and staff if they’re not relatable—that’s why I help them tone down the jargon and clarify their messages.

Executives trust me to make them look good

My executive ghostwriting career started because I was in the right place, at the right time, volunteering to fix a problem. But the career continued because of my approach. Before I write anything, I learn about the message, the person delivering the message, the audience and the strategy we’re working within. That way, everything fits. My process allows me to understand what my executive client wants so I can deliver it. Plus, I provide gentle counsel if what they want puts them in a bad light or isn’t aligned to their stated goals. Looking out for my client’s best interest is all part of the service.

About the person behind the ghostwriter…

Andrea Bassett, B2B Copywriter and barbell trainee

Your ghostwriter demonstrates the low-bar back squat which is a lot harder than it looks here.

Here are a few things about me, unrelated to ghostwriting:

  • My love of a good story started as a kid with Agatha Christie, Stephen King and Sly and Arnold action flicks.

  • My husband says my super-power is enjoying any movie, no matter how bad it is. Which is about 97% correct.

  • I got called to the barbell when I was forty, a mere 20 years after I was inspired by Linda Hamilton doing chin-ups on a flipped bunk bed in a looney bin.

  • My hobbies include drinking coffee and learning Spanish by watching Spanish videos on YouTube and Netflix.

  • In 2021, I moved from Toronto to Mexico. Eleven months later, a stray dog showed up on my doorstep, I adopted him and officially became a Super Crazy Dog Lady. No regrets!

  • My sense of humour is dry and it can sneak up on you anytime.

Andrea is an excellent writer and has a real gift for extracting the tone and feeling you want portrayed. She gets in your head and really gets to know who you are and how to articulate the message with clarity, preciseness, and a little humour. I love everything she has worked on with me and feel like she is a real partner in the process. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Andrea and her abilities!
