The Human Resources Force awakens on Kylo Ren

It's that time of year again: the annual performance review. I took some HR-approved tips and drafted Kylo Ren's review for Supreme Leader Snoke. He totally said it's okay that I share this with you.

Destroy the Resistance

Kylo is consistent in his efforts to destroy the Resistance. He has developed his skills in strategy, ground battles and mind-reading. In 2015, Kylo lead several initiatives to destroy the Resistance, including dispatching a village on Jakku and kidnapping a Resistance pilot.

Kylo leads the Stormtroopers efficiently and inspires others to the vision of the Dark Side. Though Kylo is a strong leader, this is an area for continued growth for 2016.  Kylo would benefit from taking a more consistently ruthless approach to errant behavior, such as the incident on Jakku with Stormtrooper FN-2187.  Kylo demonstrated superb ruthlessness with Han Solo and should be proud of setting such a good example for team members on Dark Side Operations.

Increase shareholder value

Kylo contributes to the financial health of our organization by destroying the Resistance. The battle at Jakku had a 1:8 return on investment, which is above average.  On several occasions, Kylo has smashed up equipment up on the Death Star which has negative budget implications. To more consistently contribute to the finances, I’d like Kylo to reduce the amount of equipment he smashes up by 30% in 2016.

Use the Force for evil, not good

In many ways, Kylo epitomizes our value of using the force for evil not good. Successes in 2015 were plentiful and my favourite example of this is when Kylo used the Force on Resistance pilot, Poe Dameron, and secured the location of the map to Luke Skywalker.  Due to the incident with Rae, a Force-sensitive scavenger, we discovered an opportunity for professional development: mastering the Force. With further training, Kylo can move from highly-skilled in this area to a master in 2016.

Kylo is extremely thoughtful when it comes to sharing resources about using the Force for evil not good. Peer feedback includes comments like this, “I thought I was being evil but Kylo took me aside and gently explained that I was actually only being bad. He gave me some practical tips to implement right away and my evil activities have increased by about 10% since then.”

Kylo commands the First Order and created the biggest and best Death Star ever which is quite an accomplishment.  Kylo sees the big picture and is good at bringing our vision to life; this Death Star is evidence of that. I see room for an increased focus on continuous improvement in Dark Side Operations, specifically around strengthening the infamous weak spot in our Death Star design.

Summary

Kylo is an asset to Death Star Operations because of his application of the Force, his devotion to mentoring and because he regularly exceeds his destroying-the-Resistance metrics. With some professional development in 2016 and a commitment to excellence, I believe Kylo can become a best-in-class Commander of the First Order.

Congratulations on a great year, Kylo, and I’m looking forward to working alongside you in 2016!
